Veterinarian


Summary: Diagnoses, and treats diseases and injuries of pets such as dogs and cats, and farm animals such as cattle or sheep by performing the following duties.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Examines animal to determine nature of disease or injury.
2. Treats animal surgically or medically.
3. Inoculates animals against rabies, brucellosis, and other disorders.
4. Advises animal owners about sanitary measures, feeding, and general care to promote health of animals.
5. Conducts research on how to control parasites that attack domestic animals.
6. Ensures building and grounds are maintained in a neat and clean manner.

Practice Manager


Reports to: Director of Operations

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
 
Summary: Responsible for managing daily office operations including medical and financial record keeping and scheduling.
 
Responsibilities
  1. Ensure patient records are maintained in an organized, accurate manner.
  2. Complete forms and daily financial reports in an accurate manner.
  3. Assist with medical and post-operative procedures as assigned.
  4. Maintain operating room facilities in accordance with established requirements.
  5. Ensure medical equipment is sterilized and maintained, and arrange for repairs as needed.
  6. Apply knowledge of schedules to support smooth appointment flow.

Client Solutions Team


Wellness Plans are a convenient and affordable way to maintain every pets' preventive needs. The Wellness Plans are greatly discounted and allows pets to receive all services up front while paying them off at the discounted rate over a 12-month period. As the Wellness Plan Coordinator, you will ensure that all wellness plan patients are receiving their paid for services and in return we are receiving our payment for those services. These job duties will include but are not limited to:
  • Maintaining all Wellness Plan paperwork
  • Maintaining all Wellness Plan accounts
  • Entering payment information and setting up recurring payments

Lead Technician

Position Overview
A lead technician is an essential and important part of the team. As a lead technician you are expected to galvanize your teammates to excellence. A lead technician is in charge of manipulating the overall flow of the team to accommodate scheduled appointments, as well as handling technician's performance and overall knowledge of the medicine and hospital culture.

Veterinary Technician

Position Overview
The veterinary technician is the veterinarian's primary medical support. They begin the examination procedure and continue to assist the doctor throughout the examination, diagnosis and treatment phases. They aid the veterinarians in achieving greater efficiency by relieving them of technical work and administrative detail. They have a very significant role in communicating with and education clients about their pets. 


Personal Requirements
  • Genuinely enjoys working with animals and is able to deal with them even when they are stressed, ill or in pain.
  • Can stay calm and efficient during a medical crisis.
  • Is well-spoken and approaches his/her job duties in a mature nature.
  • Is experienced in the teamwork approach and works well with all levels of hospital team members.
  • Has excellent client communication skills.
  • Physical Effort: Work requires lifting and carrying animals (will be assisted by other staff members in lifting animals over 40 lbs). Walks or stands for extended periods or time; frequently works in a bent position.

  • Can properly care for all surgical materials; keep the operating room properly stocked and prepared for surgery.
  • Can perform clinical laboratory procedures such as fecal flotation exams, heartworm checks, skin scrapings, urinalysis, and fungal cultures; draws blood for laboratory analysis; maintains file of lab test results and ensures that test results are recorded in patient records.
  • Can effectively position for and take radiographs.
  • Can place IV catheters and properly care for them. Understands the use and care of IV pumps as well.
  • Knows common disease states and can alert veterinarians when symptoms change or when concerns arise with hospitalized patients.
  • Can prepare a patient and the machine for an ultrasound procedure.
  • Can discharge patients based on the veterinarian's orders, ensuring that patients are well groomed and in a medically appropriate state.

Lead Receptionist

Summary
Responsible for the daily supervision of the receptionist's staff. To ensure all team members are greeting incoming patients and visitors, relaying incoming telephone calls, and performing various clerical duties in a professional manner.
 
Responsibilities
  1. Answer multi-line telephone system, take accurate messages, screen and direct telephone calls to the appropriate person in an efficient manner.
  2. Greet and identify patients and visitors as they enter the office in reference to the daily schedule and obtain additional patient information as needed.
  3. Request patients and visitors be seated in the waiting room in a courteous manner and communicate unexpected delays when necessary.
  4. Review patient charts to ensure proper documentation and information are enclosed in accordance with practice guidelines.
  5. Acquire necessary medical records and documents for patient charts by communicating via telephone, facsimile or in person with other office locations or office personnel.
  6. Maintain a neat and organized waiting room and order supplies as needed.
  7. Schedule patients for appointments and "re-call" appointments in an efficient and productive manner.
  8. Submit insurance forms to insurance companies as required.
  9. Receive payments from patients for services rendered and prepare bank deposits on a daily basis.
  10. Enter financial transactions and miscellaneous correspondence on computer.
  11. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Receptionist

Position Overview
The receptionist is the client's first contact when calling or visiting the practice and as such represents the professional image of the practice to callers and visitors. The receptionist answers telephones, greets clients, prepares patient files and escorts clients and patients to exam rooms, receives and relays client correspondence, updates client financial records. The exceptional receptionist has the ability to diffuse negative client situations and foster client bonding. 

Personal Requirements
The receptionist must be able to:
  • Be flexible in attitude and work habits.
  • Quickly learn how to pronounce, know the meaning of and spell commonly used veterinary terms.
  • Perform basic computer skills, type 30 words per minute.
  • Physical Effort: Work requires lifting and carrying records and equipment weighing up to 25 lbs; requires sitting and standing for extended periods of time.

Kennel Technician

Summary: Provides care for animals through interaction and maintaining a healthy, safe and clean environment for them by performing the following duties.
 
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  1. Supervises and interacts with animals both inside the facility and outside in the yards.
  2. Feeds and gives water to animals per company procedure and client instruction.
  3. Cleans and disinfects cages, dog runs, food and water containers.
  4. Performs yard work which includes shoveling, raking, water removal and removal of animal waste and debris.
  5. Maintains cleanliness of facility by vacuuming, washing floors, dusting, scrubbing walls and removing trash and animal waste.
  6. Greets clients when they drop off and pick-up their animals and obtains information from them regarding the care of their dog such as personality type and any medication instructions.
  7. Medicates animals per client and vet instruction.
  8. Performs duties on the telephone to include answering basic questions for clients about the business and services available as well as taking reservations.
  9. Assists groomers on occasion.
  10. Launders towels, dog beds and blankets.

  1. Obtain service request by taking orders form pet owners.
  2. Assesses per condition by interviewing pet owner and inspecting pets.
  3. Grooms pets by providing grooming tools and supplies, bathing, brushing, combing, trimming, shearing, dematting, drying, scissoring, clipping and filing nails, cleaning ears and deodorizing according to breed or mixed breed specifications.
  4. Applies special precautions for puppies, kittens, aged and disabled pets and removes fleas and ticks.
  5. Controls costs by conserving use of equipment and supplies.
  6. Controls pets by easing pet anxieties and reducing behavioral issues.
  7. Provides list of supplies to owners.
  8. Keeps all equipment operational by following manufacturing instructions and established procedures.
  9. Maintains quality results by following standards.
  10. Protects pets, pet owners and self by adhering to safety policies and procedures.
