Externships/Mentorship Programs
Forever Vets Animal Hospital Mentorship Program
Forever Vets provides not only high quality and affordable care for our community pets, but we also strive to promote our core value of personal and professional growth amongst our associates. The Forever Vets Externship and Mentorship programs are designed to support incoming doctors of veterinary medicine, veterinary technicians, and other passionate veterinary professionals as they navigate the labyrinth that is academic and post-academic life. Our programs aim to build knowledge and confidence with hands-on clinical experiences, real-time client and patient interactions, leadership development, state of the art technologies, and consistent support. They are not simply programs to mark off a box on the checklist of career advancement -- they are programs that build relationships to last a lifetime.

Doctor Testimonials
Dr. Payne
"When I started at Forever Vets, I was given the fantastic opportunity to work with several of our veterinarians at several diffrent locations. Not only did this expose me to a wide variety of cases to help me grow my confidence, but I also got to see how diffrent doctors would approach the same type of cases. Getting to see multiple approaches and ways to perform procedures allowed me to formulate my own approach using insight from other clinicians. The best part of our mentorship program was developing relationships with so many doctors, and building a team that is always there to support each other. I know that is I want or need a second opinion, I have several fantastic clinicians I can reach out to. I'm looking forward to getting to pass this experience on to future groups of new veterinarians!"

"When I started working with FVAH, Dr. G mentored me for about 3 weeks. I started observing him while working up cases and speaking with clients, to handling my own cases to help fill in the gaps I was missing. Without the support and freedom he gave, I may not have built the confidence to start practicing on my own. I always knew my staff had my back and would ensure all our patients got the best care while I was learning. Now, I'm able to use the skills I learned through the program to teach others."

When we created the Forever Vets Animal Hospital Mentorship program, we wanted to create a space where our employees could turn into family. Our goal of the program is to help build confidence and knowledge through case rounds by advancing their skill0-set through hands-on experience. With our continued education, constant support and state of the art technology, the Forever Vets Mentorship Program aims to build relationships that will last a lifetime.
The Forever Vets Mentorship Program was built with up and coming veterinarians in mind. We wanted to create a space where doctors can continue to learn in a safe and supportive environment while also becoming independent and essential parts of our practice. Apply to join our mission!
Dr. Gerardi
"Having the right mentorship can direct your trajectory for the rest of your career. While fresh out of vet school, we know about the newest advancements from top doctors in the field, but we lack the experience that you can only get with years in practice. They don't teach you the everyday tips and tricks that make our jobs easier. I feel fortunate that if I ever have a question or just want a second opinion, I can call Dr. G or Dr. Starr and they'll answer. I specifically remember a time I wanted to do an emergency splenectomy but did not feel comfortable doing it alone. Dr. G left work earlier to come help me with the surgery."
